Employment Policies

Your Challenges

Knowing that you need clear rules, guidelines and boundaries is one thing. Properly creating them is another.

What if you don’t know how to deal with a particular employee issue? What if you are perceived to be unfair in your treatment of one employee over another?  Could you get your business in trouble for denying a flexible work arrangement request?

Your Risks:
  • Making employment-related decisions without following a policy increases the likelihood of inconsistency, discrimination and legal claims.

  • If you don’t clearly outline your expected standards of conduct and behaviour, misconduct or bullying will more likely occur.

  • If employment policies are not clear, issues can become exacerbated as they are less likely to be dealt with promptly.

  • If policies are not communicated to employees regularly, the level of exposure in the event of an employee claim increases.

Compliance Policies

It is critical for every business to have clear, current and well-understood employment policies. These policies outline the rights and responsibilities of your employees, clarify behavioural and operational standards, and will also serve to protect your business.

We can tailor policies for your business in simple, concise language, while fully complying with the requirements of the Fair Work Act & NES, and aligned to your current workplace practices.

We recommend the following essential compliance policies:

Employee Benefits Policies

We will work with you to identify and develop employee benefits and best practice initiatives, to position your business as an ‘employer of choice’ and to assist in the attraction and retention of top talent.

Employee benefits & best practice initiatives include:
  • Professional Development
  • Study Leave
  • Flexi Working
  • Remote Work
  • Compressed Hours
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Wellness Programs

Employment Policy Education

Ensuring that your policies are properly understood by all employees is as (if not more) important than having them. You need to educate all your employees on your policies regularly and have them formally acknowledge they have read and understood them.

We can prepare and conduct policy education sessions for your employees, including Managers. We suggest this is done as part of the induction process at least quarterly to capture all new hires, as well as annual refresher session for the whole business.

Equal Opportunity, Bullying, Harassment & Sexual Harassment Training

A critical policy that needs a particular training focus is Equal Opportunity, Bullying, Harassment and Sexual Harassment. We deliver an education session for employees and managers specifically on ‘Respect in the Workplace’, to ensure there is a proactive approach to equality and fairness in the workplace.
